Chillicothe Middle School 7th Grade Football Team
by: Jackson Bolen
On August 29, 2016, Chillicothe Middle School football team traveled to London, Ohio. London Middle School must be a school that focuses on football. The game started out with CMS winning the coin flip. Hunter Thomas ran the ball for a first down. The next 1st & Ten play, CMS unluckily fumbled the ball. The opponents 1st & Ten, they put into motion a toss sweep, where the quarterback pitches the football to the running back and they scored a touchdown. The rest of the half London scored multiple touchdowns. The game did not change in the second half; London dominated the remaining time. Chillicothe scored a touchdown, but it got called back because of a penalty. London was victorious at the end of the game.
The scoreboard does not tell the complete story of a game. Often schools play larger divisions so their players can experience a higher level of competition and can walk away with the learning experience. This learning experience can be used to positively impact future games. Chillicothe Middle School football teams now understand the value of individually prepared, mentally focused and playing as a team.
